Kavanaugh is a retreat facility, conference center and a beautiful facility to hold wedding receptions and group events. The Center was founded in 1875 by Bishop H. H. Kavanaugh who had a dream to carve out a piece of God's creation and maintain it as a place for ministry, renewal and fellowship. Times have changed, but we are still carrying out Bishop Kavanaugh's dream on 55 acres of creation affectionately referred to as "holy Ground". Approximately 37 acres of our beautiful facility are designated forest land where you will find walking trails and benches along these trails for rest, reflection, prayer or simply taking in the sights and sounds of the woods. On the ground you will find a place for a game of volleyball, horseshoes, softball, space for bonfires, hay rides, and more to make your stay here enjoyable and memorable.
Kavanaugh's spacious Holloway center offers seating for 250 at tables or 350 auditorium style . . . And it's a beautiful place for weddings. Classroom style is also available in the conference center for business meetings. Audio/visual equipment and high speed internet access is available. Our Holloway Conference Center is a beautiful venue with large windows overlooking Kavanaugh's 55 acres, and a fireplace to add extra warmth on a cold day.
Originally built in 1875, our McDowell Auditorium maintains tradition while serving a variety of needs. Our Foeman Lodge has 22 lodge rooms with double beds in each room. Our dining facility will hold up to 100 people and has a fireplace to provide a cozy atmosphere.
In 1947 an advertisement for Kavanaugh read: "The soil of Kavanaugh has been made sacred by the fact that in the settling of lives we have been lifted to nobler Christian living. The ground becomes holy ground because we have been touched by the Holy One."
